i was going to make a post about a few of the potential parallelism i think we’ll see in s4, but my favourite one is that we open with the family in grief again and mary at the heart of it - but this time she’s genuinely in mourning and torn up and wants to wear black and doesn’t initially want to move forward and man i am excited to watch that key difference play out

What do you think of that Elizabeth Mcgovern quote discussing Cora in season 4? I'm so afraid they're gonna focus on robert/cora now that o'brien is gone :(

Ugh. I actually don’t mind it as much as I thought I would. Like, McGovs did say that Cora’s less afraid to hold her own (or something along those lines) with Robert, right? So that could be good. I mean, it probably won’t be, because Cora holding her own is usually regulated to a single episode before it’s all taken away, but, bleh. I guess I’d prefer to focus on Robert/Cora than Cora taking a liking to her new maid (Anna should just do it tbh). Because at least I liked the Robert/Cora dynamic in S1 and I think there’s, sometimes, still stuff there, especially if it involves Cora continuously becoming more unabashedly “herself” or however you want to describe it. I’d rather have that be the focus than someone replacing O’Brien, I guess. That’s just worse to me bc I’m still bitter and I’m always going to be possessive and I want to believe that somehow, somehow the two of them end up in the Dower House together.

What I want is Cora to be upset about O’Brien leaving and I want Cora not liking how other maids deal with her and I want a proper scene between her and her mother thank you. And that’s really the extent of my S4 wishlist for Cora (more or less), and even that’s probably much too much wishful thinking but god, I live in hope.
